September

So I am really struggling to blog as extensivly as my wife does. She’s a pro. But I figured at least once a month would be okay so here is my September update! Woo hoo! oh and for those of you that have gotten lost while trying to find Nikki’s blog it has moved to a new location. It can now be found at http://thehallzblog.blogspot.com/.
September has been a ultra über fun month filled with so many good times. So let’s start at the beginning… At the start of the month.
Lately I’ve started working with one of the most amazing men in the world on a few little film productions. Working with the perfection that is Phil Hudson is amazing. We’ve been working on a few screenplays for a while now and this was the first project that we actually got to almost fully run the development and production. All in all, it was an incredibly fun time. Thanks again to everyone that helped us get it rolling.

For Labor Day, Nikki and I started the celebration by hiking Mount Timpanogos with; freshly home from Iraq, Payden, the amazingly beautiful Colby and his fantastically fun girlfriend Heather. Hiking Timp has been a tradition that Payden and I started oh so many years ago and now that he is home from his mission and then Iraq we can continue to fulfill it. We left around midnight on the 7th and got up to the Saddle around six in the morning. Nikki and I froze for a couple hours at the Saddle waiting for the sunrise while Payden, Colby and Heather headed up to the peak to get the “full effect.” Overall the hiking was amazingly painful and cold but worth it. We had a blast.

After hiking Timp we headed to the Taking Back Sunday and Blink-182 with Payden and Phil. Thanks to State Farm Insurance we got our seats upgraded from the ‘nose-bleeds’ to the fourth row! The concert was amazing! Nikki’s posted the rest of the sweet pictures and even a pretty stellar video on her blog. Check it out!

On 9/9/9 I got The Beatles: Rockband! We have had a blast playing! If you guys didn’t already know I am pretty much obsessed with the Beatles and love everything about them so 9/9/9 was a humongously huge day for me.
Let’s see… some other fun things we did this month…
We had the greatest barbeque with almost all of our best friends from High School. Some people sadly could’nt make it but we know in our hearts they were there in sprit. Everyone was, Brittany and Jay, Sam, Phil, Aubrey and Jason and their beautiful darling boy Boston, Payden, Lacey, and of course Colby and Heather. We love you guys! Had a blast, can’t wait to do it again soon!

On September 10th our great great great friends Brett and Alexis tied the knot. Seeing them married warms my soul. I’m so happy for the two of them. Good on ya guys… good on ya.

The rest of the month was filled with the business of starting school and continuing to work full time. of course Nikki and I found time to golf a few times. She’s getting really good. I’m impressed more and more each time we go. Maybe if she’s good she’ll even get her own clubs soon!

Oh and Nikki and I finished a mean “Finding Nemo” puzzle the other day. But Nikki covers all the things like that.
As for things coming up in October… well… Nikki and I leave this week (October 3rd) for our cruise through the Western Caribbean! We can’t wait! We’re going to have a blast! Really the thing I’m the most excited for is to go to three new countries I’ve never been… the Grand Cayman, Honduras and Belize! I can’t wait.
After the cruise we have Halloween! Which of course mean… the dancing skeleton’s return to Supersonic Car Wash! Hooray! It’s going to be an amazing month.

Ben Folds - Way to Normal …Amazing!

“Oh ma gorsh…” that is my review of Ben Folds new album that came out yesterday. It truly is amazing. If you haven’t already got a copy of this album you truly need to. Feel free to comment or email me and I can help you out.
Ben Folds has once again taken his beautiful music to another level. I think that he truly has done an incredible job on this album. Another thing to check out are the music videos. If you happen to know of Tim and Eric you will be happy to know that that “zanny, wacky, sometimes crappy” duo has directed the music video for the song “You Don’t Know Me” featuring Regina Spektor. Check out the video below. And if you haven’t already got this fantastic album go now and get it. It is, thus far, my favorite album of the year.

2008 Beijing Olympic Games

Now I know the Olympics are over but I just had to get some things off my chest. I loved watching the Olympics this year; it was fun to see all of those amazing people competing for the gold, silver and bronze. While on vacation in Europe the Olympics were really the only thing on television late at night when we got home. It was fun to see the difference in how the Olympics were reported on in Europe and here in the United States. In my apartment we had the Olympics on every night and we had a lot of fun watching them together. It’s been a lot of fun and I am very proud of my country and the 110 medals that we won (36 Gold, 38 Silver and 36 Bronze) Way to go America!

Alright, now it’s time to vent… It is very fun to watch the different competitions during the Olympics. I’ve gotten to see some great sports that I don’t get to see very often. Things like Handball, Judo, Fencing, Badminton, and Table Tennis… it was very fun to watch these sports but… what about Golf? Yes! Golf! I love to golf, I live to golf. It is truly one of my favorite sports. Now I am by no means a good golfer and I will never come close to playing well but I enjoy taking pride in golf! I have many much mucho memories of golfing with family and friends and having some great times. I was bummed out when I didn’t get to see and golfing as a sport. Table Tennis and Badminton over Golf? No offense to the competitive Table Tennisers and Badmintonites but I feel that Golf is definitely at least on the same playing level as those! So I’m asking why! Why isn’t golf an Olympic sport!? I understand that Golf is already and international sport with the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup, even the Solheim Cup. That doesn’t even take into account the four majors and the four World Championships but still! If anything those should be reasons to have golf in the Olympics! It goes to show you how strong of a sport Golf really is! So Olympic committees where ever you are… I vote that you add Golf to official Olympic sports. I understand that you have to remove one sport in order to add another, so take something like Synchronized Swimming out. I understand that there will be a lot of unhappy synchronized swimmers out there, but think about how many more happy golfers there will be! Get to it! Go!

Now, I feel like I need to end on a happier note. I thought that China did an amazing job with this year’s Olympics. From what I saw everything went wonderfully well and it was a great success. Also on a geekier note, I watched a few of the events online at NBCOlympics.com and I have to say that they did a fantastic job with their online video. Props also have to go out to Microsoft’s Silverlight which really pulled it off without a hitch. Congrats guys!

Also, Nikki just reminded me about my anger about those darn-tootin’ ‘cheatin Chineses!’ I mean come on. Does everyone really think that they won that many medals? I think that them Chineses were cheating their brains out. We already know about some their crazy antics… take the gymnastics! and the opening ceremonies with that poor lil’ girl. I mean hey hey, thats just mean. Sure China did a good job looking good during the Olympics but they still had their dark acts like always… I’m just not happy about it.
