Google’s Noncommittal Favicon

So I usually wouldn’t say anything but today I just can’t help myself. Now I’m sure a few of you people out there have heard of this company called Google. Now I’m a fan of Google, I’m no Google hater, not at all actually. (I really would like a G1 to anyone that is feeling generous!) But as a web designer I just have to say that they can’t make up there hugging minds when it comes to their favicon. Now for those of you saying oh boy, here goes Mike, talking about one of his stupid, lame, even little things (Nikki, I’m looking at you…) you’re right! It is kind of lame and kind of stupid but hey, that me. Love me or leave me (except you Nikki… please love me anyway!).

So… a favicon is that little tiny icon that you see at the top of your browser (yes, if you haven’t figured it out yet I am going to link to things that I don’t think some people will know, like a browser…) It looks something like this!Gizmodo Favicon

So… It just so happens that Google has recently changed their favicon and then shortly after that, they’ve changed it again! And guess what! Yup, they then changed it again. I just think it’s kind of funny that Google can’t seem to make up their mind. Now granted, I do understand that the web is always evolving and everyone has to update everything else all the time… but I just think that Google goes a little overboard when it come to their favicon. Here are the last two favicons and their new one…

Now I do think they are improving but I just think they need to pick and stick! Those are only three of the many that they have tried. Time to find a solution Google!

Alright, that is enough about that. Really it isn’t important at all. Just thought I’d share it with you all. Oh and also, if anyone is looking for a USB flash drive, here is a 16GB for $20 - http://is.gd/f1Fz. Sorry for your time I wasted! Ha!

Adobe CS4 Upgrade Ughs…

Welp, I officially have had my first bad experience with Adobe. Now don’t get my wrong, Adobe has always been really nice to me. I love all of the beautiful software that they have. Top of the line Adobe is. Truly. But… I just have to say that their customer service blows. Here’s my story…

So I recently purchased my new MacBook Pro (mmm… ) and along with it I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 3.3 Design Premium. Now I did buy these beautiful creatures through the education discounts that I recieve through my school but still… Anyway… So I purchased Adobe CS3 around July 26th. On September 23rd Adobe announced CS4. I know! Wow! So I think to myself… “Well, I just purchased CS3 and a month later they come out with CS4? Hmm… I bet they have a free upgrade for me!” So I went through the process to get in touch with Adobe. …No simple task. Adobe’s customer support were all total losers. They had no knowledge of anything! Not to mention that none of them spoke English. It really was a nightmare. So first off, when I finally get through to them about what I’m trying to get they tell me that they can indeed give me an upgrade! Wabberoo! Right? No… They a few minutes later they say… Actually, “Mista Haw” we’re not able to give you an upgrade. Boom… my joy was shattered. I was so excited and then they popped my bubble of love and joy over Adobe. Anyway, after sending some emails and getting my requests higher in the company they gave me more official words that in fact I’m not eligible for an upgrade. I’m sad. Happy to have Adobe CS3 none-the-less but still really sad. So I have to save and save and someday get CS4. Bummer days but it’ll be okay. This really was just my little rant at Adobe. I’m not too mad… but don’t get me wrong! Argh… but anyway, I’m getting really excited for Halloween. I can’t wait to blog on mine and the girlfriend’s costumes. They’re gonna rock your sock straight off! Until then, enjoy!

2008 Beijing Olympic Games

Now I know the Olympics are over but I just had to get some things off my chest. I loved watching the Olympics this year; it was fun to see all of those amazing people competing for the gold, silver and bronze. While on vacation in Europe the Olympics were really the only thing on television late at night when we got home. It was fun to see the difference in how the Olympics were reported on in Europe and here in the United States. In my apartment we had the Olympics on every night and we had a lot of fun watching them together. It’s been a lot of fun and I am very proud of my country and the 110 medals that we won (36 Gold, 38 Silver and 36 Bronze) Way to go America!

Alright, now it’s time to vent… It is very fun to watch the different competitions during the Olympics. I’ve gotten to see some great sports that I don’t get to see very often. Things like Handball, Judo, Fencing, Badminton, and Table Tennis… it was very fun to watch these sports but… what about Golf? Yes! Golf! I love to golf, I live to golf. It is truly one of my favorite sports. Now I am by no means a good golfer and I will never come close to playing well but I enjoy taking pride in golf! I have many much mucho memories of golfing with family and friends and having some great times. I was bummed out when I didn’t get to see and golfing as a sport. Table Tennis and Badminton over Golf? No offense to the competitive Table Tennisers and Badmintonites but I feel that Golf is definitely at least on the same playing level as those! So I’m asking why! Why isn’t golf an Olympic sport!? I understand that Golf is already and international sport with the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup, even the Solheim Cup. That doesn’t even take into account the four majors and the four World Championships but still! If anything those should be reasons to have golf in the Olympics! It goes to show you how strong of a sport Golf really is! So Olympic committees where ever you are… I vote that you add Golf to official Olympic sports. I understand that you have to remove one sport in order to add another, so take something like Synchronized Swimming out. I understand that there will be a lot of unhappy synchronized swimmers out there, but think about how many more happy golfers there will be! Get to it! Go!

Now, I feel like I need to end on a happier note. I thought that China did an amazing job with this year’s Olympics. From what I saw everything went wonderfully well and it was a great success. Also on a geekier note, I watched a few of the events online at NBCOlympics.com and I have to say that they did a fantastic job with their online video. Props also have to go out to Microsoft’s Silverlight which really pulled it off without a hitch. Congrats guys!

Also, Nikki just reminded me about my anger about those darn-tootin’ ‘cheatin Chineses!’ I mean come on. Does everyone really think that they won that many medals? I think that them Chineses were cheating their brains out. We already know about some their crazy antics… take the gymnastics! and the opening ceremonies with that poor lil’ girl. I mean hey hey, thats just mean. Sure China did a good job looking good during the Olympics but they still had their dark acts like always… I’m just not happy about it.
